DALAL FARAH BAIRD CELLS FROM AN ARTIST'S PERSPECTIVE Born in Damascus and raised in Zahleh, Lebanon, Dalal Farah Baird is a self-taught artist.
Having lived and worked in many countries (the last being Sydney, Australia), Baird benefited from the exposure to many different cultures and belief systems. Her fascination with the Middle Eastern culture, however, led her to uproot her life and took her on a journey back to Lebanon a few years ago.
Her interest in art started at a young age but it wasn't until 2006 that she picked up the brush and started experimenting with colors. It was her curiosity with the human cells seen under an electron microscope that inspired the paintings of her first collection "Cell-abration".
It has been said that in order to comprehend the number of cells we have in our body, we have to imagine a house full of peas. This is one of the main energizing elements behind Baird's enthrallment with the science of the human body.
Furthermore, it is also the idea that our thoughts affect our cells and in turn our health and well-being that is the driving force behind the artist's motivation and latest collection. To Baird, we are first spirit that takes the shape of a body and once we fully understand and accept this truth, our outlook on life changes dramatically.
The Cell-ebration collection is a personal invitation for anyone and everyone to view cells from the artist's unique perspective.
